Whatever age we are, healthy skin is important. Our skin is the largest organ in the human body and needs to be cared for throughout our lives. Think of it as a reflection of our health, and that it can often offer us a view into the body tissues it protects.
In children, the outermost layer of the epidermis is thinner than in adults; sweat and oil glands are less productive and the protective mantle is relatively weak, which means that the skin’s barrier function is limited. As a result, young skin is especially sensitive to chemical, physical and microbial influences. This can sometimes lead to dermatological conditions such as atopic eczema, causing inflamed, itchy skin which can eventually become chronic and lichenified following flare-ups.
In adults, the management of wounds and skin conditions can be stressful and uncomfortable for the individual and time-consuming for the clinician to manage. Chronic skin conditions, for example, dermatitis and leg ulcerations may occur frequently, sometimes exacerbated by other co-morbidities. This can affect the well-being of sufferers as the journey to complete healing can be lengthy and challenging.

Ichthopaste Bandage
ICHTHOPASTE Bandage with 6.32%zinc oxide and 2% ichthammol is used as a topical treatment to aid the healing of venous leg ulcers and their associated skin conditions such as varicose eczema and hyperkeratosis. Ichthammol is an oil based ingredient which helps to treat chronic lichenified conditions of the skin .
